You don’t need any kind of software or tool to convert Google doc to pdf, you can directly do it from Google Docs Viewer.

1. Log on to Google Drive.
2. Open the doc file with Google Docs.

Step 1: Login to Google Drive and then Sign in with your Google account.

Step 4: I assume you need the PDF file to be present in the Drive itself. Just drag and drop the downloaded PDF to Drive so that it will be uploaded to Google Drive as a PDF file.

In the above method we first saved the doc file as a PDF file and then we had to upload the downloaded PDF file back to drive. I mean for small number of files, this is okay. But for more files this can take time because you have to download and then upload the file.

We have another cool trick which you can use to convert the doc file to PDF file from within Google Drive without having to download the file and upload it back.

Step 1: First of all, Login to Google Drive.

Step 2: Right Click on the file and then Open with Google Docs (we did the same in the above method also).

Step 3: Here is the trick, instead of downloading the file as PDF, click on the Print icon or press Ctrl + P on your keyboard to open up the print menu.

Step 4: You will now see the print preview and some options for the doc file. Click on the Change button under the Destination section.

Step 5: A small pop windows will be coming which prompts you to select the Destination. Under Print Destinations, you will be able to see Save to Google Drive option towards the bottom. Click on the button.

Now if you go back to Google Drive, you will be able to see a PDF file. Hurray! You just have converted the doc file to a PDF file. Your doc file will remain intact. Now you can easily share the PDF document or take a print.

How to Email a Google Doc as PDF

Instead of first converting the Google doc file to a pdf file and then sharing it via email, you can directly email a Google doc file as PDF attachment. This is the easiest way to attach the .doc file to a mail as a .pdf file and then send it as an attachment with the mail. You can do all this right from Google Drive.

Step 1: As you would normally do, Login to Google Drive.

Step 2: Right Click on the file and then Open with Google Docs (we did the same in the above method also).

Step 3: Click on the File option and then select Email as attachment. You will see a popup were you can compose the email and send it.

Step 4: On top, you’ll be able to see Attach as option. Make sure to choose PDF. There are other options available too.
